Description
FI830F is a single-channel PROFIBUS-DP V1 master communication module tailored for ABB Freelance 800F distributed control systems, differing from slave-type FI820F in master-slave working logic. It adopts isolated RS485 transceiver with 2.5kV galvanic isolation to block common-mode interference and ground loop currents in industrial cabinet environments. Supporting full baud rates from 9.6 kbps up to 12 Mbps, it can connect a maximum of 126 PROFIBUS-DP slave devices on one bus segment, with a maximum transmission distance of 1200m at low baud rates without signal repeaters. Powered purely by 24V DC backplane bus without external power wiring, it has typical power consumption of 2.6W, far lower than redundant DP modules. The module supports both Class 1 cyclic real-time data exchange and Class 2 acyclic parameter reading, writing and device diagnosis compliant with DP-V1 standards. It adapts to wide working temperatures ranging from -25℃ to +60℃ and 5%-95% non-condensing relative humidity, with CE and IEC 61131-2 EMC certifications for harsh industrial sites. Equipped with a standard 9-pin Sub-D connector, it integrates overvoltage, overcurrent and short-circuit protection circuits to prevent port burnout from on-site wiring errors. Four front LED indicators independently display power status, bus traffic, module running state and communication faults for rapid on-site troubleshooting. It supports hot swapping without controller shutdown or program interruption, and is compatible with S800 I/O racks and all Freelance 800F system versions. It is widely deployed in chemical, water treatment and building energy industries to control remote DP I/O, variable frequency drives and smart valve positioners directly from the Freelance main controller.
