Firmware storage and update: The operating system firmware is stored using non-volatile flash memory, allowing for firmware updates without the need to remove modules or replace EPROM. By connecting a PC-compatible computer to the serial port of the module and running the software in the firmware upgrade package, the update of the operating system firmware can be completed.
Operation control and status indication: The operation, protection and module status of the CPU can be controlled by three-position run/stop switches, or remotely controlled through additional programmers and programming software. Program and configuration data can be locked by software passwords. The status of the CPU is indicated by the CPU LED in front of the module. On the RX7i CPU, there are also seven leds used to indicate the status of the Ethernet interface.

High-speed counter input: It is equipped with 12 high-speed counter inputs, all of which are single-terminal logic (source) type inputs. Sensors with CMOS buffer output (equivalent to 74HC04) can directly drive high-speed counter input within a 5V input range. Sensors using high-voltage open-collector (junction) type output need to be equipped with a 1K pull-up resistor to + 12V to adapt to the input range of 10 to 30 volts for high-speed counters.
Wiring requirements: Shielded cables must be used to connect the high-speed counter module. The cable shielding layer must be grounded at high frequency within a range of 6 inches (15.24cm) from the module to meet the grade requirements stipulated in IEC 1000-4-4, and the cable length is limited to 30 meters.

Channel diagnosis and status data: It can be configured in conjunction with the MDL765 module to report channel diagnosis and status data to the CPU, and the CPU stores the data in the diagnostic reference address configured for this module. Meanwhile, the MDL765 module can also be configured to return two-word module status data to the CPU, which is stored in the 32-bit module status reference area.
