Description
MOTOROLA MVME172-523A controller module
Processor-related: It may be based on Motorola’s PowerPC processor, such as the PowerPC 603e processor, with a main frequency as high as 266MHz, which can provide strong computing power and meet the requirements of complex industrial control tasks.
Memory configuration: Usually equipped with 8KB L1 cache. Supports multiple memory configurations and can be equipped with up to 128MB of SDRAM to ensure the efficiency of data processing. In addition, there is 128KB of SRAM with battery backup, which can preserve critical data in case of power failure.
Storage interface: It is equipped with 2MB flash memory and two 32-pin JEDEC DIP sockets, which can be used to install EPROM for convenient storage of programs and important data.
Communication interface: The Ethernet transceiver interface is implemented using 82596ca, and the local RAM is accessed through DMA operation. The on-board Z85230 serial communication controller, whose port B can be converted from the EIA-232-D interface to the EIA-530 interface. It also supports the SCSI interface, which is implemented by NCR 53c710 SCSI I/ O. Data can be efficiently transferred to the local bus through the DMA controller.
Timer: It features four 32-bit programmable clocks with a resolution of 1µs, two of which are in VMEcchip2 and two in PCCchip2, and can be used for functions such as timing control. VMEchip2 provides a watchdog timer function, which can be programmed to generate a SYSRESET signal, a local reset signal or a board failure signal when a timeout occurs.
Others: Up to four Industry Pack (IP) modules can be installed, and data interaction and functional expansion with other modules can be carried out through the IP bus. By default, a VMEbus +5V backup power supply is used, which is obtained from the VMEbus backplane connector P1.
