Description
PCD232A (3BHE022293R0101) is a lightweight plug-in serial expansion module developed for ABB 800PEC and 800xA distributed control platforms, used to make up for the insufficient native serial interfaces of main control boards. Unlike fieldbus communication cards such as CI854BK01, it focuses on traditional serial point-to-point communication, widely used for accessing legacy industrial peripheral devices without Ethernet or PROFIBUS interfaces. Its dual DB9 ports support independent protocol configuration, allowing one port for RS-232 short-distance device connection within 15m and the other for RS-485 long-distance transmission up to 1200m, eliminating the need for external protocol converters on site.
Embedded with dedicated serial error correction chips, the module supports parity check, stop bit customization and frame retransmission, effectively resisting signal distortion caused by inverter electromagnetic interference. In terms of electrical parameters, it supports wide-range rack backplane power input of 18-30V DC, with overvoltage and reverse connection protection circuits built in to avoid burnout from on-site power fluctuation. The environmental rating covers storage temperature from -40°C to +85°C, meeting long-term standby transportation requirements for industrial spare parts. Its ultra-compact size enables dense deployment in limited rack slots without occupying redundant wiring space.
It supports online hot swapping without rebooting the main control system, which ensures uninterrupted serial data collection during module replacement. Two front-panel LEDs separately indicate port transceiver status and link faults for rapid troubleshooting. Compliant with CE industrial electromagnetic compatibility standards, it can operate stably alongside high-power drive equipment in water treatment, thermal power and fine chemical industries. It is compatible with all mainstream 800xA controller backplanes, and multiple modules can be stacked in a single rack to realize multi-group isolated serial communication channels, improving system peripheral access scalability and operational maintainability.
