Description
FI840F is a dedicated FOUNDATION Fieldbus HSE high-speed Ethernet interface module for ABB Freelance 800F DCS, complementing PROFIBUS-based FI820F and FI830F for FF bus networking. It adopts dual independent RJ45 10/100Mbps auto-adaptive Ethernet ports supporting network redundancy, achieving switchover latency below 15ms with zero process data loss during single-port failure. The module delivers 2.5kV galvanic isolation between fieldbus circuits and backplane power to suppress common-mode interference and ground potential deviation in industrial cabinet environments. Powered by 24V DC backplane supply, it draws a typical current of 190mA with power consumption of 4.56W, operating stably across -25℃ to +60℃ and 5%-95% non-condensing humidity. Compliant with IEC 61158 FF HSE and IEEE 802.3 standards, it supports seamless interconnection between traditional FF H1 field instruments and upper-layer HSE Ethernet networks. It allows up to 64 H1 field devices to be accessed via matched link devices, covering smart transmitters, valve positioners and flow analyzers. Built-in surge protection circuits defend against lightning-induced line surges and wiring misconnection damage. Four front-panel LED indicators separately display backplane power, Ethernet link status, FF bus traffic and internal module faults for rapid on-site diagnosis. It supports hot swapping without controller program interruption or system downtime, compatible with all Freelance 800F firmware versions and S800 I/O rack backplanes. Certified with CE and IEC 61131-2 EMC credentials, it is widely deployed in oil and gas, fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries for distributed intelligent instrument data collection, solving cross-layer FF bus communication bottlenecks in large-scale process control sites.
